"Storyline This isn't your standard superhero origin story. Unlike her cousin Clark who left Krypton as a baby, Kara was a teenager who watched her entire planet and family die. The plot leans heavily into that trauma, following a jaded, cynical Supergirl as she reluctantly teams up with an angry young alien girl, Ruthye, to hunt down the space pirate who murdered Ruthye's father. It is a surprisingly dark journey of grief, revenge, and sisterhood, packing much more emotional weight than the typical comic book movie. Cinematography: Director Craig Gillespie creates a massive, sweeping visual landscape that feels more like a grounded sci-fi fantasy than a standard cape flick. The interstellar journey takes them across distinct, vibrant, and dangerous alien worlds. The camera work captures the sheer scale of the cosmos while keeping the focus intensely personal, making the alien environments feel both wondrous and dangerous. Cast: Milly Alcock absolutely nails it as Kara Zor-El, bringing a weary, sarcastic, and hardened edge to the character that sets her completely apart from Earth's Superman. Eve Ridley provides a strong emotional anchor as the heartbroken Ruthye, while Matthias Schoenaerts delivers a genuinely ruthless performance as the villain. Jason Momoa is also present as the chaotic Lobo, so the cast is pretty strong. The Verdict: If you are expecting a traditional, clean-cut Superman spin-off, skip this. But if you want a bold, emotionally heavy sci-fi epic that redefines Kara Zor-El for the big screen, it is highly recommended. Ratings 8.7/10"
